Salt and Light - August 28

Greetings from Debrecen,

God is faithful! Thank you for praying! We had a good first week of school and it looks like it is going to be a great year. We were asking God to encourage our girls and to see where He is at work, well God answered our prayer. Sophia and I were going to look in the garage for a Geometry text book but our garage had many boxes of books and miscellaneous stuff. Before we entered the garage, realizing that this may take a while, we prayed and asked God to help us. We went to the garage and found ourselves looking through the first accessible container that we found. When I opened it I saw that it was full of a bunch of different stuff but I started to see some books as well. It was amazing but we found the book in the first box that seemed to have a lot of different stuff and we know that God had led us to it. I was amazed because I really thought we would be in there a while looking through boxes but God answered our prayer to encourage my daughter Sophia. Thank you Jesus!

This week we met with one of our students, "B," who is Hungarian but lives in Ukraine. She continues to seek God and His direction for her life. She is hoping for a job so she can save money to attend the University. Please pray that God would put her in the best place for her to grow in her relationship with Him and to reveal to her His plan for her or at least the next step she is to take.

Please continue to pray:
  • Arianna is still raising funds for her Asia trip and the first deadline is September 1st. Pray that she will receive the amount that is needed and that God would grow her faith and confidence in His provision for her during this time.
  • Darrel and I would have God's wisdom and discernment for the days ahead. Also the ability to learn Hungarian.
  • God would continue to soften my friend "M's" heart as she walks through a difficult time.
Thank you!

Pray for family in crisis

A message came in today to the Turner Syndrome group from a new family where the woman is 13 weeks pregnant with their first child. The doctors suspect Turner Syndrome or Downs, and they said, "we are waiting, we are suffering and we are scared."

Please pray for them and for this child, that the child would be wanted, no matter the test results.

We may never hear back from them about the results, but we pray they will take hold of the hope that is offered.

Salt and Light - August 20

Greetings from Debrecen,

Today is St. Stephen’s Day which is a very important holiday for Hungarians who celebrate the foundation of the Hungarian state and the coming of Christianity more than 1000 years ago. St. Stephen was the first king of Hungary who is known for converting the Magyar people to Christianity. The day is filled festivities which family and friends participate as well as a huge fireworks display at night.

Praising God because our books were released from customs on Monday! Thank you for praying! We also had a lot of opportunity to help our friend G move this week. We have been getting ready to start school on Monday.

Please continue to pray for us:
  • Good encouraging first day of school for the girls and I. Wisdom and patience to work out the glitches and that the girls would have a deep desire to learn and work with excellence.
  • Arianna will start her first week of classes as well. Pray for wisdom and discipline to balance her time. God has given her opportunities to serve in her church this year so pray that she would keep her eyes on Jesus and trust Him to provide for her in every area of her life.
  • As I think back on our time before STAS I am reminded that it is all His work and that He is an Amazing God! Pray that we will be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and faithful to the opportunities that He gives us!
  • Darrel and I as we continue with our assignment to study the language. God would give us the ability to learn and speak Hungarian.
  • Our friend G who we helped move this week. God would give us favor and opportunities to share with her especially this year.
  • Our girls would be encouraged to see how God is answering their prayers and meeting their needs in the area of friends.
Thank you so much for your faithfulness to pray for us!

Blessings,
Kimberly Hathcock

Bakers in Budapest - August 16, 2017

 Sowing seeds through Summer Camps
in Dunakeszi and Békásmegyer.

Many children heard the gospel for the first time. New contacts were made.  For many the gospel and religion are still foreign.  We hope through relationships and continuous contact with believers these can experience God's love and the gospel.

Pray for Adrian, to continue following Jesus.  We have not been able to contact him for weeks.

Grain Game - using Bible verses with object lessons and games to convey Biblical truth.  (This child participated in the game about choices.)

  • Pray for those in the camps who heard the gospel and those whom we made contact with. Ask God to continue to work in their lives and for the new relationships to grow.
  • Pray for Adrian.
  • Pray for us as we prepare to travel to the U.S. in September.  We will be staying for over three months.  Please feel free to contact us at monteaprilhavehope(at)gmail(dot)com
Thank you for partnering with us in the gospel here in Hungary.

Salt and Light - August 13

Greetings from Debrecen,

Wow! What a week! We spent the beginning of the week hanging out with and saying goodbye to Arianna. I didn't know that it would be so hard. We are excited about what God will do in her life this year but we will miss her. Darrel and I have been sharing a summer cold as well. Darrel preached this morning at a church and encouraged the students who have been here for the summer. We spent part of the day yesterday with J, a student from Pakistan. This week we will help another student move. Darrel will continue with language study. The girls and I will enjoy one more week before we start school. Our books are still in customs!

Please pray:
  • Our books will be released from customs so we can start school. God would give us wisdom and favor with the post office and customs office.
  • Arianna just moved into a different apartment so we are praying that it will quickly become her new home and a place of peace. She would have the strength for this week as she helps to welcome new students and to trust God to take care of all her needs.
  • J, a friend and student who has moved from being Muslim, to being open to Christianity, to atheist. We are asking God to open his heart and reveal Himself to J in such a way that he will know the one true God.
  • Opportunities to share Christ and encourage G as we help her move into another apartment. Praying for a new openness in her life to God.
  • We would keep our eyes on Jesus and run the race with endurance!

Thank you so much for your prayers!

Salt and Light - August 6

Greetings from Debrecen,

We are thankful for safety in our travels and returning home for a while. We were blessed to have a time of learning from God's Word and worship as well as meeting other missionaries. Our kids cherish the time that they get to be with other kids their age who are also missionaries. This week we will say goodbye to Arianna as she returns to the states for school. We will also prepare for school to begin in a couple weeks. We are in the midst of a heatwave!

Please pray:
  • Arianna as she returns to the states. It has been an awesome summer and God has done some great things in our family. Life is so different here for her, like living in two different worlds. Pray for God's peace in the midst of this and that she would see how God is taking care of her in every area of her life. She would have a deeper sense of God's presence in her life and wisdom as she makes decisions.
  • Our family as we readjust to our new normal and prepare for school. We will all miss Arianna a lot so pray for peace as we continue to entrust her to the Lord even more.
  • God would put His desires into our hearts for the things that He wants to accomplish through our lives. Asking God for wisdom and discernment.
  • Darrel as he continues to study Hungarian, that God would give him the ability to speak, read, write and listen so that he will be able to pass his language exam in December.
  • Our friend "D" as God continues to give him a curiosity about Jesus.
  • Our friend "S" who has a hunger to know more about God. He would allow God's Word to transform his life.

Thank you so much for your prayers!
