Hathcocks' prayer update excerpts

Greetings from Debrecen.

We're thankful that God is in charge. God has worked through Curtis in a variety of situations to share about agriculture and Jesus. Yeah God! Seeds were planted literally and spiritually in people's lives. God is at work in two students as we have had some great conversations with them. We are thankful for the guests that God has sent into our lives this week as well. We also are trying a different plan for my back and we are seeing some positive results! Arianna finished one of her classes this week and received good marks.

Please pray:
  • Safe journey for Curtis as he returns to the states. Pray for wisdom to sort through all the opportunities and to see where God is at work and how to best join Him in the future. Those who heard about Jesus this week will know Him as their Savior and to trust him fully.
  • The ability to learn Hungarian as we are in the process of organizing lessons and time to study.
  • Arianna to not grow weary but to have the motivation to finish her classes without anxiety but trusting that you will help her.
  • Several of our students have asked for prayer regarding their exams and studies and have seen some great results. Pray that they will see how God has helped them and give Him all the glory. They would grow in their trust in God and hunger to know Him more.
  • Wisdom as we continue to connect with students this week that we would encourage them in their journey with God.
  • This coming Saturday we will gather for English worship at a school in Debrecen. Pray for encouragement for those who are serving God and that we would be a light to this unchurched area of Debrecen.

Thank you so much for praying for us!

Blessings,

Betsy's update for the week

Hello Everyone,

I hope that this update finds you well.  I’m afraid it is going to be quite short.  Our main concern is camp for this week.  The American team arrives Saturday and camp will start Monday and last through Thursday.  Please be in special prayer for this time.  Pray that God would be glorified in all that we do.  Pray that the team would have a last kingdom impact on these kids, and pray that the students would form relationships with us that we might share the gospel with them.

Please be in special prayer for me as well.  I am already quite tired and the camp hasn’t even begun.  Please pray that God would give me newfound energy and that the time with the games and the songs would go well.  Pray that I might form relationships with the students and that we might have opportunities to share the gospel with them.  Pray that the team coming would have a servant like heart to come and teach the kids and help further out ministry here.  Finally, please just pray that everything would run smoothly and that this week would be a great time of gospel sowing, sharing, and kingdom building.

Thank you so much for your prayers.  They mean so much to me.  I am thankful for each and every one of them.

In Christ,
Betsy McCarter

Hathcocks' prayer update excerpts

Greetings from Debrecen.

God is good and we are so thankful that He is in control of all things! His plans are perfect. We are grateful for God's faithful provision this week.

Update: So thankful that "J" keeps coming to Bible study. Monday night we had a time of encouragement for "I," who is a new believer. Our friend who was going to come to our home ended up not coming over this week, but we are hopeful that he will come at some point. Another friend and his mom came over for dinner, and she has been reading the Bible that we gave her. She is really open to the things of God. Curtis made it here safely and we are looking forward to all that God has planned for him.

Please continue to pray:
  • Curtis Smith as he teaches about container gardening, that he will have opportunities to share the gospel.
  • God would reveal Himself to our friend's mom as she reads, and that it will be clear to her.
  • We are thankful that students keep coming to Monday night discipleship time. Pray that they will hunger and thirst for God's Word and that they would be obedient to the things that God reveals to them.
  • Wisdom as I am working out the details of school materials. Also that God would give wisdom to those whom I am consulting with for next year.
  • Our focus would be on Jesus throughout the day and the plans that He has prepared for us. He would put His desires in our hearts.

Blessings,
Kimberly Hathcock

Hathcocks' prayer update excerpts

Greetings from Debrecen.

We are so thankful for God's provision and safety during our vacation. We returned last Sunday evening and jumped right back into our life in Debrecen. So thankful for our Monday night discipleship time. One of the young men accepted Christ while we were gone. God is good! We have enjoyed reconnecting with students who are still finishing up exams. In Debrecen they have quite a comprehensive final which also includes an oral exam, so exam period will go till the end of June -- maybe even longer if students want to try again for a higher grade. Interesting system. Back into the routine of P.T. and asking God for continued healing. I have been meeting with some of the girls' teachers and getting things prepared for the next school year. We are so thankful for the monthly English worship time and the encouragement that it brings to so many.

Please pray:
  • For wisdom in how to order our time as we develop a summer routine. Arianna has two more classes to finish for this year. We are also trying to work out the timing for further language study.
  • That "J" would surrender to God. God continues to work in his heart. Some bad things have happened in his life. Pray that he will turn to God and see how God is helping him.
  • That "D" would see Jesus in our lives and that God would continue to draw him.
  • A friend will come over this week to cook a national dish for us. Pray that he will know Jesus.
  • That Monday night students would have the courage to share the gospel with their friends and those whom God places in their lives. The students would make wise choices that would draw them closer to God.
  • Curtis Smith will be arriving, he will be working in the area of agriculture this coming week. Pray as he meets with people that he will have opportunities to share the gospel.
  • We will also have a friend and a family member over for dinner this week. Pray that we will be sensitive to when the Holy Spirit would have us share with them, and that they would see Jesus in our family.

Thank you so much for your prayers!
Blessings,
Kimberly Hathcock

Adams' prayer update excerpts

Examples of the "jurta" houses of ancient Hungary

During a recent festival in Budaörs, our church set up a tent and invited people walking by to come in to take a love language test. It was a chance for our members to introduce folks to the church and talk about Jesus.

This picture was taken in a small  town near us. I couldn’t resist showing the beautiful  flowering trees there.
Mike and I were asked to judge a Beatles competition in Kinga’s school in Budaörs. Here she is on the far left, singing a Beatles song with her fellow English teachers. The competition, however, involved only English students in grades 5-8.

Before our Bible study began, Mike shared a pie crust recipe with Erzsi and Judit.
