Hathcocks' prayer update excerpts

We are so thankful for the celebration of the Birth of Christ! I am reminded of a sermon we heard last week that Jesus is more than a "Baby Story" and that is goes beyond a baby to a relationship. It is a good reminder that our relationship with Jesus is the most important thing and sharing the good news with others. It was a blessing to help out with a Christmas party last week where needy families were blessed with gifts. We are thankful for gathering together with our family and being able to spend time with them. So glad that my dad's health continues to improve. We have made our way to visit family in Mississippi.

Please continue to pray:

Healing for Darrel as he ended up having an infection and dry socket after having his wisdom tooth removed. He is getting better but still has a lot of pain.

My dad had a good visit with the doctor and have pretty much determined that his illness was a side effect of some meds that he was taking. They continue to monitor his blood and will be watching to see how he is doing. Pray for discernment for my dad and the doctors as they wait and see and evaluate things.

Healing for Sophia after being sick with a bad head cold.

Divine appointments as we spend the rest of our time in the states. We will leave January 8th. We will visit my mom and then make our way back to Missouri.

We would keep our focus on Jesus and that He would lay upon our hearts His goals for the next year.

Thank you!

Blessings,
Kimberly Hathcock

Hathcocks' prayer update excerpts

Greetings from St. Louis,

We are thankful for all that God has done this week!!!! I cannot tell you how much we value your prayers. As I have been reflecting on this last year there are so many things that have happened that can only be explained by God's power and people praying and nothing that we had planned. We were blessed to help serve at a Christmas party for families who have incarcerated loved ones. We were encouraged by a good report from the doctors concerning my dad's blood work and his improving health. Christmas in America, now that is a different kind of culture shock!

Please continue to pray:
  • We will be helping with another big Christmas party on Monday. Pray that we will be helpful and have opportunities to talk with people about Jesus.
  • My dad has another big appointment on Tuesday with his doctor. Pray for clarity and wisdom for the doctor. My dad's health would continue to improve and wisdom for him as he starts back with some of his work.
  • Healing and comfort for Darrel as he ended up having a wisdom tooth removed on Friday. He was in a lot of pain last night so pray that he will get some relief.
  • Wisdom for us as we determine the best way to spend the rest of our time in the states.

Thank you so much for your prayers!

Hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

Blessings,
Kimberly Hathcock

Hathcocks' prayer update excerpts

Greetings from Debrecen,

We are thankful for God's provision this week and how He is clearing the path before us. After a week of trying to discern what God would have us do next we believe that we need to return to the states for about a month hoping that my dad's health will become more stable. We will leave this week and will be in St. Louis. After being released from the hospital last week my dad's health began to worsen so he was readmitted. We are hoping that the doctors have had a breakthrough regarding his medication but they are still doing tests. He was released again from the hospital yesterday and we are hoping for the best.

We are praising God for the things that He is doing in Debrecen. We had a wonderful discipleship time last Wednesday night followed by a time of just worshiping.

Yeah! A young man has prayed to receive Christ. He is from a different faith background and is processing what is means to follow after God.

Please pray:
  • Healing for my dad.
  • Wisdom for the doctors, that they will see clearly what has been the source of his illness and the best way to bring about healing.
  • God would continue to put His desires in the hearts of those whom we are discipling. That their hunger for God would grow and that they would have the boldness to share with others.
  • The young man who has prayed, that he would cling to the truth...that God's spirit would fight for him as the battle for truth continues. Wisdom for those who will be talking with him and discipling him.
  • Safety as we travel to the states and that we would be Spirit-filled and led as we minister in whatever God has for us.
  • Continued healing of my back and nerve pain. I am seeing improvement with P.T. and am so grateful.
  • God's grace for traveling.

Thank you so much!
Blessings, Kimberly

Hathcocks' prayer update excerpts

Greetings from Debrecen,

We are so thankful for a full week and being able to follow through with some plans that we have made with others. It was also a lot of fun. Arianna had a great trip to Germany and enjoyed serving. After P.T. the cramps in my legs have almost gone away! Sometimes I feel like God wants us to be an advocate for the people that He places in our lives and we have met several different people this week.

A funny story about chocolate sprinkles at Coffee House. Last week we brought chocolate sprinkles, which is a common treat on buttered bread, for those who live in Holland. God sent us two people whom we have never met before from Holland to the Coffee House. I know that this was not a coincidence. It taught me to never overlook the small things that God asks you to do because it all fits into His plan.

We were also blessed to have some international students come to our home to cook. We had such a good visit with them and had some great conversation. Thank you for praying...!  Our neighbors have offered to let us cook pizza in their outdoor oven and so we did yesterday. They are in their seventies and we are not sure that they know the Lord but they are open to doing Bible study. So many people to pray for..........

Please pray:

  • A new friend shared that he was on a spiritual journey and Darrel shared a brief testimony with him so we continue to pray that as he searches after God that God would draw him to Himself.
  • "R," a waiter from one of our favorite restaurants. He is on the fence spiritually and needs to let go of his old life and fully give his live to God.
  • That God would soften the hearts of our friends who are of another religion and speak to them in such a way that they know who He is. Also wisdom for several of us who have been sharing with them.
  • A neighbor couple, that God would continue to put a desire in their hearts to know Him, and wisdom for us as we pray about how God wants to use us to encourage them.
  • Saturday we will celebrate Thanksgiving with a mix of our American friends and some Hungarians. Pray that our friends would see Jesus in our lives and want to know more about Him.
  • "A," a young man who has a heart to reach others, that he would see who God is sending him to disciple and take the first step.

Thank you so much for praying for us!

Blessings,
Kimberly Hathcock

Hope you have a great Thanksgiving!!!!!

Cobbs' prayer update excerpts

We’d appreciate prayers for the Nigerian students that we’ve been working with on Fridays since August and for the study we have started in our home on Sunday afternoons. We continue to pray for sensitivity to the Holy Spirit’s leading when we’re on campus. We are praising Him as He has provided a number of divine appointments....

We pray for boldness and wisdom as we share God’s gracious gift of salvation through trusting the Christ as Savior and Lord. We pray that those in our discipleship class will truly obey the command of Matthew 28: 19/20 and boldly share their faith; actively looking to disciple others. We pray for believers everywhere that they will not have a blind spot to the necessity of true, Biblical discipleship.  We pray that churches, as they boldly teach the truth of God’s Word, will NOT miss the importance of training their flocks as committed disciples for the Kingdom.

Thank you for your continued prayers and please, let us know how we can pray for you.

Blessings,

Bruce & Debbie

Hathcocks' prayer update excerpts

Greetings from Debrecen,

What an amazing week!!! God is at work at the university. Dr. and Mrs. Blair with Darrel had some incredible conversations with students on campus. The faculty at the university were incredibly open....

We saw God's hand in leading us to a physical therapist in Debrecen and it seems that he is also a believer. The Wednesday night discipleship time went great and it is so refreshing to see people who really want to grow in their relationship with God. We also had some great conversations at Coffee House which we hope to continue.

Please pray:

  • God would continue to grow the seeds planted this week among the students and faculty at the university.
  • Dr. and Mrs. Blair would reflect and see the hand of God in their work this past week and be able to share with others about the things God is doing.
  • God's timing in meeting with some international students that we hope to meet with again this week.
  • Another student who is close to knowing Jesus. Pray against distractions and that he would be willing to trust God.
  • Wednesday night discipleship time that students would come with teachable, obedient hearts.
  • Arianna as she travels back from Germany on Monday. Wednesday she will be with another student at the University for a kind of a high school student day. Pray that she will have opportunities to share about her faith also that God would speak to her about what He wants her to do in the area of school.
  • This week I will officially start physical therapy. Pray for wisdom for the therapist to know the best treatment plan. Sometimes I get spasms in my left leg which are painful and scary. Pray for God's continued healing. Dr. Blair was a huge help in the area of pain and I am so thankful.
  • My dad as he is having several medical procedures done, that God would strengthen and heal his body.
  • Please pray that we would keep our Focus on God!!!

Thank you so much for your prayers.

Blessings,

Kimberly

Hathcocks' prayer update

Greetings from Debrecen,

We are thankful for this week and all that God is doing. We had a good visit with the doctor and he thinks that I am healing normally and that some nerve pain is ok and should get better. I will start physical therapy and hopefully see more improvement.  We are looking forward to seeing how God arranges the time that Dr. Blair and his wife will be with us this week.

Please pray:

  • Dr. Blair as he lectures this week and meets with students, that he would be sensitive to God's divine appointments and to have the wisdom to respond to them.
  • Safety and joy in serving as Arianna goes to Germany this coming weekend to serve those who are planning a youth conference and to practice her German. God would encourage her and speak to her heart.
  • Darrel as he preaches today that God would use the things he says to encourage our church during this transition without a pastor. Our church would also see this time as an opportunity to grow.
  • Wednesday we will start a time of discipling students, pray that God would draw whom He wants to come and they will come with teachable hearts.

Thank you so much for your prayers.

Blessings,
Kimberly Hathcock

Hathcocks' prayer update

Greetings from Debrecen.

We are thankful that we serve a God that is the blessed controller of things! We are so grateful for the time John and Sue have spent with us over the last two months and the impact that they have had on so many people.  This week we will travel to Budapest for a doctor's appointment. I can't believe that it has been six weeks since my surgery. We are seeing progress and are hopeful. This Saturday a doctor from the states with his wife will arrive and he will have an opportunity to give a lecture on campus and meet with students. His wife is an educator and will have opportunities to meet with students.
Please pray:
  •  John and Sue as they travel back to the states that God would make his next steps for them clear and that He would continue to work through them.
  • Wisdom for our doctor in his assessment of my back and what would be his recommendation.
  • Clarity of our minds and His enabling as we study Hungarian.
  • The doctor and his wife would have many opportunities to share their faith.
  • Wisdom for us as we see God leading us to disciple students on Wednesday nights.
Thank you so much for your prayers!

Blessings,
Kimberly Hathcock

Cobbs' newsletter excerpts

Welcome back, University of Debrecen students!!!

Classes began on September 1 for the medical students, and on the 8th for all other faculties. Our neighborhood, and all of Debrecen, is a buzz of activity with the students back in town. We continue to prayer-walk the university campus, and surrounding neighborhoods a few times each week.

Please join us in praying for the students, faculty and staff, that God will prepare their hearts to be receptive to the Truth.

The Connections Debrecen coffeehouse outreach resumed on September 18. It’s great to see many returning friends as well as some new faces.  Connections is open weekly on Thursday nights from 8-10 p.m. Throughout the year there are refreshments, fun activities, and even live music. Coffeehouse is a wonderful opportunity for positive, relaxed, one-on-one discussions...
