Grain Game camp photos from the Bakers

Recently the Bakers asked that you pray for the Grain Game camps in Dunakeszi and Békásmegyer.  Praise the Lord for the kids who came and for the gospel seeds that were sown!  Continue to pray for these kids and their families, and that God will move in a mighty way in these two areas where we would love to see churches planted.

Bakers in Budapest - July 19, 2017

Pray for Adrian.

  • Adrian surrendered his life to follow Christ. He asks prayer for God's help to know how to live for Him in this world, in the challenging situations he daily faces and make adjustments.
  • Pray for fellowship, truth, encouragement.
(Adrian gave permission to use his picture & real name.)

Pray for Grain Game CAMPS July 24-29.

  • Pray for children to hear about the camps and come (in Dunakeszi and Bekasmegyer).
  • Pray for the gospel to be shared and relationships to be built.

Salt and Light - July 16

Greetings from Debrecen,

We are thankful for another full week! God has blessed us with guests from Texas this week and we're thankful for their willingness to give sacrificially of their time and lives to serve the Hungarian people. We were blessed to have a group of students in our home Tuesday for worship and gulyas, which was so encouraging for everyone.

Darrel finally received the results of his language exam and he did not pass. God promises to prepare and equip us for His assignments so we trust that He will do that for us. This week we are planning on a family vacation so I will not be writing next week.

Yesterday Darrel began to have a fever and other symptoms, so we are praying for his healing before we leave Wednesday for our vacation.

Please pray:

  • Healing and restored strength for Darrel as we prepare for some vacation time. God would use this time together as a family.
  • We had an opportunity to spend time with J and so glad that his heart is open and we are praying for more time to share and still praying that God would reveal Himself to J in such a way that He believes and trusts in Jesus.
  • My friend M (not a believer) is really having a difficult time, pray that she would see her need to trust in God to help her and that her eyes would be open to the ways that He is already working. She would experience the peace that only comes from God.
  • We would continue to seek the Lord with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength. He would give us wisdom.
  • As we meet with different people during our vacation that they would see and hear about Jesus through our lives.

Thank you so much!

Salt and Light - July 9

Greetings from Debrecen,

Thankful for answers to prayer! Our friends Dénes and Alyssa found a place to live in Debrecen! Darrel had a good meeting with A. but it seems that the Mormons and JW's have been talking with him as well. My friend did not pass her exam but God is at work in redirecting her path. God was at work in the camp last week and will continue to work in the hearts of those who came. Our dog had a successful surgery but is still a big lethargic.

Please continue to pray:
  • A friend N. who needs the courage and wisdom to obey God in what He wants her to do. She would see clearly the path that God has for her even if it is difficult.
  • For A. that God would continue to show him the path of truth and that he would choose to involve himself with true believers.
  • This week we will have some friends from Texas with us as well as a big gulyas/ worship time with the group of students serving this week with another GCC. Pray that it will be an encouraging time and also time to lift of the name of Jesus in our worship.
  • Wisdom and patience to wait on the Lord as He directs and clears the path before us.
Thank you so much for praying!

Salt and Light - July 2

Greetings from Debrecen,

Wow! What a fun and full week! We had a great visit with our friend "D"!  He remains open!  Dinner with our Jewish friend and her family did not work out but we will see them later this summer. Darrel, Arianna and Sophia taught and helped out with an English camp at the Baptist church in Debrecen. We were blessed by three students on their way to serve in Slovakia. I was so impressed with their youth group who does a foreign mission trip every other year for juniors and seniors. Now these students have come back for the summer! Any mission trip is a life changing experience.

We have enjoyed lots of different people in our home!  We have been able to catch our breath and trust the Lord to give us strength for this week. Our dog will have surgery this week to remove a cyst on her belly so the girls are a little worried about her. There will be a huge camp for orphans this week that another GCC group is hosting. So many kids with a lot of difficult issues.

Just want to wish everyone a happy 4th of July! After living in this part of the world we are so thankful for the freedom that we have in America! I know it isn't perfect but there are a lot of areas of this world where this freedom does not exist. Our God is not bound by these restrictions! His work continues no matter what!

Please pray:
  • Seeds planted by these English camps throughout Hungary would bear fruit!
  • God would give those serving at the camp with orphans strength and wisdom as they spend time with these kids. God would heal their hearts and that many would truly give their lives to Jesus and that He would give them the ability to break free from their old lifestyle. Also that the caretakers at the orphanages would also receive the gift of salvation.
  • "D," that God would open his eyes to the reality of sin in his own life and his need for salvation.
  • Our friend from Pakistan, "J," will not be going home this summer! Pray that he will respond to the conviction of the Holy Spirit. Ask that God would speak to him in such a way that He would know that it is the one true God.
  • Darrel as he meets with "A," who is a friend from Iran, that God would give him words of encouragement and wisdom as to how he might help "A" grow in his relationship with God.
  • Other GCC co-workers Dénes, Alyssa, and Jonah, who are looking for a place to live in Debrecen. Pray that they would see God's provision and wisdom to know where to look.
  • A Hungarian friend who will be taking an exam on Monday. She has already failed several times and this is her last time to take it. God knows what situation will be the best and I am praying that the results of the test will cause her to know God in a deeper way. That she would have peace as well during the exam, and that she knows that it is from God.
  • We would be faithful to the work that God has given us to do!

Thank you so much for your prayers!
