Hathcocks' prayer update excerpts

Greetings from Debrecen!

Thankful for God's provision this week in so many ways. Last Sunday we had lunch with Z, who has an amazing story of God's provision and healing. God spared her life from a tragic car accident that took her mom and several siblings. God has healed her heart and now she is a social worker who serves the elderly.

Last Monday was awesome with our discipleship group, as each one of the ladies shared their testimonies; Darrel, with the guys, shared the Gospel with a young man who was lost who came to the group. It was neat to hear their stories and how God is at work in their lives. I continue to make progress with PT so we wait and see as I still have some cramping and pain that I do not understand.

Darrel gave his final on Wednesday and was encouraged by their responses. He also invited his students to come to our home, and several did last night. We were so excited to talk with three students from Israel. We were surprised how many Israeli people speak Russian!  We also had a good conversation with a young lady who is Hungarian. The students are still in the midst of finals and we were able to hear of their struggles with teachers and grading.

It was also a lot of fun to share Christ during the training this week and to gather some more tools for discipling students. God is at work among students and it is exciting to see what He is doing.

Please pray:
  • Students, as they take exams, that God will give them strength and wisdom and that they will turn to Him in their time of need.
  • Monday night group, that the students will have the courage to share with others and to keep their eyes on Jesus no matter what happens this week.
  • The girls will finish well,  Abigail and Sophia will finish school this week. Arianna wants to finish a difficult class this week and will have a few more to finish up over the next month. Pray that she will not be discouraged but God will give her a new motivation. (Praise! Arianna did great on her SAT, thank you for praying)
  • Healing for our family. I have been sick for two weeks with allergies and a head cold and now several of the girls have the same thing.
  • Next Sunday we will go on vacation! Pray that it will be a restful and refreshing time and that we will be attentive to God's voice. We would have a great time together as a family.
  • Monday many Hungarians will celebrate Pentecost. Several evangelical churches will have evangelistic services at the stadium in Debrecen. Pray for people to know Jesus as their Savior and Lord.
Thank you so much for your prayers! I will update everyone when we return.

Hathcocks' prayer update excerpts

Greetings from Debrecen.

The end of the school year is approaching! The girls are excited about finishing school in the next two weeks. This is also the time when students are taking their exams. We are thankful for all of you who have committed to pray for them. One wanted a Bible and had many questions about Jesus. Darrel was able to meet with a few, and we see God at work in their openness to spiritual things. We have no doubt that was a result of prayer and that seeds were planted for further ministry. God is at work and we are thankful for how God has used this time.

Darrel and Sarge and others were able to do a lot of work on the school and to continue to develop relationships. Our last coffee house was this week as well and the students are preparing for their exams.

Please continue to pray:
  • For wisdom as we are planning a get-together with students, re: when to do it and that students would be able to come.
  • That the seeds planted in students' hearts would grow and bear spiritual fruit.
  • For students as they prepare for exams, that they would see their need to seek and depend on God; that He would help them to do well and that they would see how God has helped them and give Him the glory.
  • Pray for the students who need to know Jesus.
  • For the students who are Christian, that they will have the courage and boldness to share Christ with their friends.
  • That we would keep our eyes on Jesus and to be faithful each assignment that God gives us throughout the day/week.

Betsy's update for the week

Hello Everyone,

I hope that this email finds you and yours well.  This past week in Hungary has been quite busy.  First off, my supervisors have returned to Hungary.  Thank you so much for the prayers for their safety as they traveled.  Please continue to pray for them as they get adjusted to life back on this side of the world.

Friday and Sunday groups met this week.  Please pray that those who met would be obedient during this week with what they learned.  I also had to teach this Sunday in Hungarian.  Many of you guys prayed for me during this, and I just want to thank you guys so much.  I was able to do it, and everyone was at least able to get the point of the lesson.  So thank you so much for your prayers they were heard and felt!

We also met with students this week.  I was able to have some great conversations with students.  Please be in prayer that we would be able to have more conversations, especially since our time with them is coming to an end as summer approaches.

Thank you so much for each of your prayers.  I appreciate them all.  Please feel free to email me back and let me know what the Father is doing in your life.

In Christ,
Betsy

Hathcocks' prayer update excerpts

Greetings from Debrecen,

What a blessed week! God is continually at work around us and we are blessed to be a part of it. We are excited about how God is working in the Monday night discipleship group. It is great to see how these young people are growing and serving. Two young ladies who were working on their testimonies had opportunities to share them with others. Darrel and our friend Charles were able to share again with a student who last time was asking questions about what Christians believe about Jesus. They were also able to give him a Bible. God is at work in this young man's life. Arianna did well on her AP test and we trust the results to God.

Please continue to pray:

  • For the young man who Darrel and Charles talked with, pray that God would continue to reveal truth to Him.
  • For a volunteer named Sarge, who will be serving this week doing some work at a Christian school as well as evangelism. Pray for divine appointments and that God will use his gifts to be a witness to others.
  • For "D," that he would see Jesus for who He really is and see his need for a relationship with Him.
  • That we would not miss any opportunities that God gives us to share about Him.
  • For wisdom for us as we teach on Monday nights, that God would continue to show us the things that will best equip and challenge our students. Also that our teaching time would be Spirit-directed, and that they would sharpen each other as iron sharpens iron.
  • For perseverance as we finish up school and that we would keep our focus on God.
Thank you so much for praying,

Kimberly Hathcock

Betsy's update for the week

Hello Everyone,

Taking selfies after church
Students taking selfies after church
I hope that this update finds each of you well.  First, let me apologize for this update being a bit late.  However, better late than never right? :)  This week has had times of busyness and times of calm, interesting right?  Friday was a holiday here in Hungary, so all of my students cancelled.  We also had students graduating and getting ready to start exams, so many others were also busy.  However, we were able to have house church this week, and we studied on the book of Daniel.

This upcoming week, I am preparing for my supervisors to return Thursday.  Please be in prayer for their safe travels, and mine as I go to pick them up in the capital city.  Please also be in prayer for our groups meeting on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday.  Finally, this week is a time of prayer and fasting for the whole organization that I work for.  If you feel led, please join me in praying for God’s will and glory in the upcoming days of our organization as we strive to make His name known.  I hope that each of you are doing well, and please feel free to reply back with what the Father is doing in your life.

In Christ,
Betsy

Hathcocks' prayer update excerpts

Greetings from Debrecen.

Thank you so much for praying for Arianna! God gave her a calm heart, and she was able to do her best on her SAT. She told me several times that she could tell that people were praying for her. Darrel is so thankful for your prayers, as his students are still very responsive and continue to participate. We met some interesting people from another country who were not believers, but we were able to talk with them about spiritual things.

We are trusting God for strength for a busy week.

Please pray:
  • Arianna will take an AP exam on Wednesday, so pray that she will be able to recall the things that she has been studying and that she will do well on her test.
  • That the students who come on Monday nights will see who it is that they are to be discipling, and to have the courage to start doing it.
  • For diligence for school, that the girls will do their very best to the end.
  • For Darrel and our friend Charles as they meet with people during the week, that God will use them to encourage and challenge others.
Thank you!

Kimberly Hathcock
