Hathcocks' prayer update excerpts

Greetings from Springfield.

We are thankful that God's ways and His timing are perfect. We are preparing to have the youth at our house tonight! We are excited about meeting and getting to know the young people in our church.
Last week we were able to Skype with the Coffee House crew and it was so much fun! We sure do miss them! We were encouraged to see God at work in the life of a man from another country who came to English worship a few months ago. We were able to give him a Bible in his language, and he already read through all four Gospels. He is being discipled by one of the young men from our Bible study and now he wants to be baptized. So exciting to see God drawing people to Himself. Yeah, God!

We also have learned about a dear friend and ministry partner, Brian Foster, who is seriously ill with pneumonia in addition to many other complications. He is fighting for his life now! So our hearts are very heavy.

Please pray:
  • God would bring healing to Brian, wisdom for those who are trying to help him medically, and God's peace that surpasses understanding for his wife Susan and two daughters.
  • This young man from another country would continue to seek after God and to give his life completely to Him. God's Spirit would continue to teach him as he reads God's Word and studies with others.
  • Larry and Becky as they organize and facilitate Coffee House, that God would encourage and strengthen them. The students who come would experience the presence of God and want to know more.
  • K. would be able to find a job and that He would see God and how He desires to have a relationship with him.
  • We would keep our eyes on Jesus daily and to trust His provision for our lives in many different areas.
  • Thank you for lifting us up to the Father and well as our dear friends in Debrecen.

Hathcocks' prayer update excerpts

Greetings from Springfield, Missouri.

This week has been full and interesting. Our lives remain busy as we continue to reconnect with people and adjust to life in America. Our mission board requires us to be cleared medically before we return to the field, so we all get physicals and other appointments which are good but take a lot of time.

We are so thankful for some great Bible teaching that we have been receiving and the time that we are in the Christian community which is so different when we are overseas. The body of Christ is amazing and we are blessed! We have started to make visits with our family and we so look forward to spending time with them.

This week Darrel was able to reconnect with some of our friends in Hungary and to encourage them. Our Monday night Bible study is changing and growing and others are leading, and it is really great to see what God continues to do. This week some of our coworkers will be making a decision to leave or remain with the IMB. Please pray that God would give all of us wisdom and the ability to see His plans clearly. Please continue to pray for our friends in Debrecen.

Please pray for:
  • J., that he would choose to follow after God and not let other things distract him.
  • D. would see his need for a relationship with God.
  • God continues to be at work in S.'s life, Pray that he would keep his eyes on Jesus and that the Holy Spirit would continue to reveal truth to him as He studies God's Word.
  • Pray that our Muslim friends around the world would come to know the One True God of love and forgiveness and to trust that Jesus is more than a prophet, but the Son of God (taken from "Things to Pray for Muslims Around the World").
  • Alyssa and Denes as they teach God's Word to students, that the students would grow in their faith and share it with others. Alyssa is expecting a baby in the next few months so pray that she and the baby will be healthy. They would see God's provision and that His peace would rule in their hearts.
  • Coffee House on Thursday nights, that there would be spiritual conversations and opportunities to share Christ.
Thank you so much for praying for what God is doing in Debrecen!

Hathcocks' prayer update excerpts

Greetings from Springfield.

We were encouraged by the Lord this week. Darrel had a great trip to New Orleans with many divine appointments. I am in awe of God when I think about the people that he brings into our lives and the opportunity we have to share Christ with them. Darrel was also encouraged by the men who have been faithful to share the gospel year after year like our friend Frank. He is around 80 years old and has a unique gift of recognizing which country people are from, and he also has tracts in so many different languages. He is faithful to continue to talk with people and share the good news.

We are thankful for how God is providing for Arianna's future studies at the University. We found out that she is a National Merit Scholar finalist and will receive a scholarship. She told us earlier that if God wanted her to go to Dallas Baptist University that He would provide. We are blessed by God's provision and her faith.

We were also blessed to participate in an amazing discipleship conference which was such an encouragement to us and a reminder to go and make disciples. We are thankful for more tools and practical information about helping churches make disciples and how faithfulness to this task can have a great impact in reaching the lost. We were also blessed by how God through our church family blessed our children while we were gone. We are thankful! Yeah, God!

Please pray:
  • The seeds planted during Mardi Gras would bear fruit in the lives of those who heard and received the truth. The Holy Spirit would convict their hearts to obey what God has shown them.
  • We would be attentive and obedient to the things that God reveals to us. We would see who God wants us to invest our lives in while we are here in Springfield.
  • Churches and pastors would catch a glimpse of the things that God can do through a disciple-making church. They would commit themselves to making disciples.
  • Many of the students we know are struggling with the question, "What is God's will for my life?" Pray that they would keep their eyes on Him and that they would see the next step and walk in obedience. God would give them peace.
  • Wisdom for my doctor as I go for a physical and investigate some lingering issues with my back. I am trusting God to show us the best thing to do.
Thank you so much for your prayers!

Hathcocks' prayer update excerpts

Greetings from Springfield.

We are thankful for God's faithfulness and how He reminds us that He is in control. Darrel is in New Orleans with some guys who are sharing the gospel with people. The girls and I are hanging out at home and will do school this week. Arianna got her permit this week so she is officially learning to drive. It has been a while since we have experienced the Superbowl Sunday in America. We are continually blessed by the amazing people God allows into our lives.

Please pray:
  • Darrel and several men who will be sharing the Gospel during Mardi Gras, that God would give them divine appointments and protection. Vieux Carre Baptist Church would be a light in the midst of darkness.
  • Lynn, who is the pastor in Port Sulphur, that God would give him wisdom, encouragement and strength as he serves.
  • God would continue to use Coffee House in Debrecen as an outreach to the lost.
  • The students in Debrecen started again this week for a new semester. Pray that they would realize how much they need God in their lives. The Holy Spirit would open their eyes so that they would understand what it means to be forgiven and to have a relationship with Him.
  • The McDonnel family as they continue with their lives after losing their son. that God who is the healer would bring healing to their hearts and strength to do the next thing. People who are sensitive to the Holy Spirit would minister to this family just at the time that they need it.

Thank you so much for your prayers.

Hathcocks' prayer update excerpts

Greetings from Springfield.

Wow! It has been a good but busy week. We have enjoyed our time reconnecting with our church in Springfield. Our days have been filled with school and doctors appointments as we make preparations for our medical clearance. This weekend we made a quick trip to Dallas for a preview weekend at DBU. It was too short, and we are looking forward to more time in Texas after June when we move to the mission house in Bonham. We continue to see God leading Arianna in the direction of DBU. I am so thankful for how God makes His plan clear to us as we wait on Him. This Friday Darrel will meet up with some men and they will go to New Orleans to do some witnessing during Mardi Gras.

Please pray:
  • Darrel and those who will be sharing Christ during Mardi Gras. Praying for protection and divine appointments. People who are at the end and who will choose to follow after God.
  • Danish and Alyssa as they lead Bible study on Monday nights (in Debrecen), that God would speak to them during their study and that those who come would be encouraged to grow closer to God.
  • Coffee House will begin again with the Stantons (another missionary family), pray that God would help them as they organize and prepare and that God would continue to send people who are seekers.
  • We would continue to seek after God and to keep our minds and thoughts on Him. It is easy to be distracted. Asking God for wisdom as we serve others and our families.
Thank you so much for your prayers!
