Hathcocks' prayer update excerpts

Greetings from Texas,

God is at work! God's Word is so rich and full of truth. I am encouraged by the things that He is teaching us. This week I was able to participate in a simulcast of a Solemn Assembly in Dallas. It was hours of prayer and words of challenge and encouragement. We so desperately need God to revive our land especially America and how far we have drifted away. I don't know what else will change the direction that we are going unless God steps in and changes things.

Thank you for your faithfulness to pray for us! Darrel's surgery was successful and he has some pain but is healing. We are hopeful that this will bring some healing to his foot. We were blessed to help a friend and be on campus one day during missions week and to encourage and challenge students in the area of missions. Arianna started her job last week and she is learning so much and we are so thankful for this opportunity. We found out that our former pastor from Hungary will be in McKinney, Texas this week and at the DBU campus. We are so looking forward to seeing them this week. I don't think this is a coincidence.

Please pray:
  • Continued healing for Darrel's foot and relief from pain.
  • Christians would be desperate for God, humble their hearts, confess and repent from sin and turn to Him. God would send an awakening to America and throughout this world.
  • Students would see the possibilities of being a missionary wherever God places them and that they would surrender their plans and desires to Him.
  • "R", a women who works at Walmart who shared with me that she was a Wiccan. Pray for God to open her eyes and heart to the truth and to see the lies that she believes.
  • There was an explosion in Budapest. Don't know all the details but pray that God would use this to point people to Him.

Also I would like to share a prayer requests taken from "40 Days of Prayer for European People."

Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest’? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest. John 4:35

Pray God would send workers into the harvest, particularly in countries where we no longer have team members.

Hathcocks' prayer update excerpts

Greetings from the Road,

Today we are travelling to be with a church tonight to share our stories of what God is doing in Hungary. We have been blessed to spend time with some Belarussian friends this week. God has given us the ability to remember the Russian language. We are so excited that Arianna will be graduating this coming Saturday with other homeschoolers in the Springfield area. God continues to grow her and work through her life in a beautiful way. Yesterday our girls along with some other MK’s set up a craft booth at a local festival. They had so much fun, learned a lot and even earned some money. This week we will also have more opportunities to be with our Belarussian friends. We are thankful for our church family and friends who continue to love and bless these servants of God.

Please continue to pray:
  • Renewed spiritual and physical strength for our Belarussian friends as they continue to meet with others this week. God will show others how to pray for and partner with them in their ministry in Belarus.
  • Arianna would be encouraged and hopeful about the amazing things He has planned for her even if she doesn’t know what that is yet.
  • I am reminded of the incredible lostness of so many people in Belarus so keep praying for the good news to spread and for many to accept this gift of salvation.
  • Our neighbor in Springfield has stage 4 lung cancer. She and her husband are not believers so pray that we will they will know Jesus.
  • We would continue to be attentive to the things that God is saying and teaching us.
Thank you so much for your prayers!

Hathcocks' prayer update excerpts

Greetings from Springfield,

Happy Mother's Day!

Thanking God for opportunities that we have had to share the things that God is doing in Debrecen. We have finally finished up our medical appointments and are close to finishing school. We are excited for Arianna who will be graduating on May 21st and is planning on going to Dallas Baptist University in the Fall. It has been good to be in the States and we are really enjoying our time here.

God continues to bring people and opportunities into our lives. He has sent several men to Darrel to disciple and an opportunity to have one of our doctors and his family over for dinner. This doctor and his wife are from another country and we had a great time talking with them and had some great discussions about religion and Jesus. We continue to hear about God's continued work in Debrecen with a young man "A" who is really growing in the Lord. One of the guys from our Monday night Bible study is discipling him. God's work continues.

Please continue to pray:
  • God would show Darrel how to encourage these men to grow in their relationship with God.
  • The doctor and his family. They are culturally another religion but are really seeking to know what is true. Pray that God will give us and others who are Christians opportunities to share with them.
  • "A" as he meets for discipleship that he would see and understand the truth and grow in his relationship with God.
  • God would allow us to remember Russian as we will be helping to interpret for some friends from Belarus.
  • We would keep our eyes on Jesus and be obedient to the things that He shows us each day!
Thank you!

Hathcocks' prayer update excerpts

Family and Friends,

This past month has been a busy time for us as we have done a lot of traveling. We are thankful for how God protects us and are so blessed by the friends and family God has allowed us to visit. We are so glad to have a place to call home while we are in the States. Our real home is in heaven, but it is nice to have a familiar place to rest. We continue on this journey and we trust that He is faithful and at work around the world.

Please pray:
  • Wisdom to discern the things that God wants us to do each day.
  • Determination and focus as our girls press on with homeschooling. (Arianna will be graduating May 21.)
  • The young people that we were privileged to disciple, that they would continue to grow in the Lord and that their lives would bear fruit.
  • Students hearts' would desire to know God and that they will know the truth and surrender their lives to Jesus.
  • We are speaking this weekend, pray that God would give us His words and His stories to share and encourage others.
Thank you so much!

Hathcocks' prayer update excerpts

Greetings from Springfield!

It seems like forever since I have last written. We are thankful for safe travel visiting family, Richmond, and Kansas City. We were greatly encouraged by our time in Richmond during the debriefing that we had with IMB. Thankful to hear from David Platt and the things that are evolving. We also enjoyed hearing from other missionaries about what God is doing in other parts of the world. Our girls were blessed to be with other MK's who get who they are because of their similar experiences.

God is good! We have enjoyed speaking with some sweet kids from our church and with the WMU. We so appreciate the prayers, support and encouragement from these godly women. It is exciting to hear about how God is working in people's hearts. This week we will continue with school and finish up some doctor's appointments.

We will head out again next weekend for Florida so I am not sure what kind of connection we will have as we are traveling. As we have been sharing, I am reminded of the people in Hungary that we can be praying for.

Please continue to pray:
  • J as God continues to speak to his heart that he would respond obediently and completely surrender his life.
  • M, a young lady of another religion, that she would continue to respond to God as He reveals Himself to her.
  • God would continue to give the IMB leadership wisdom as they seek God and His direction.
  • The missionaries that are retiring who are waiting on God to show them what to do next. They would have peace and clear direction from God. They would be encouraged!
  • D, K, M, A, I, Z, and others who do not yet know Jesus, that their hearts would be responsive to the prompting of the Holy Spirit.
  • Our friend and GCC partner, Alyssa, who had her baby last week! God would give her peace, strength and wisdom as a new mother. Also for her husband Denes as he finishes seminary and trusts God for wisdom and direction.
Thank you so much for your prayers!

Hathcocks' prayer update excerpts

Greetings from Springfield,

So thankful to be a follower of Christ! So glad that Jesus overcame death and sin! I am thankful for this time of the year when we can take the time to celebrate Jesus and what He has done for us on the cross. This week has been full but good. I received good news from my MRI which indicates that God has healed my back! Knowing that encourages me to wait on God and continue with PT as He heals the nerve and muscles.

We are preparing for a road trip to Mississippi and Virginia to visit family and participate in a mission debriefing conference. This last Saturday we participated in a St. Patrick's Day parade with our friend Jerry who has a Model A car. It was cold and windy but we still had a lot of fun passing out candy and gospel tracts. We are thankful for the unique experiences that God gives us. We are continually thankful for the mission house where we are staying and for providing a car for us to drive.

Please pray:
  • Those who received a gospel tract would read it and God's Spirit would continue to draw their hearts to Him. Their eyes and hearts would be open to the truth.
  • Safety as we will be traveling. We would be an encouragement to our family and we would be attentive to hear God's voice while we are attending this conference. Our girls would be encouraged as they will be with other missionary kids.
  • Darrel's mom will probably have surgery this week so pray for wisdom for the doctors and complete healing for his mom. Darrel's second cousin Doug has been struggling with health problems and is nearing the end of his life. Pray that God would give him peace and comfort as well as those who love him.
  • We have a lot of speaking opportunities after this conference so pray that God would show us which stories that He wants us to share and the things He wants us to share.
  • God would give Arianna clarity and peace as she makes a final decision about where to go to college.
Thank you so much for praying for us! We will be gone for the next two Sundays so I will write when we return.

Hathcocks' prayer update excerpts

Greetings from Springfield.

Thankful for the blessings our girls received this weekend! Thank you for praying for the youth. Thankful for the opportunity that God gave Darrel to meet with our dentist and neighbor for a time of discipleship. We had a lot of fun sharing with the WMU in Battlefield about what God is doing in Debrecen. Thankful for an MRI to see what is going on with my back. The medical system in the U.S. is different than overseas. We are thankful that you continue to pray for us and those who live in Debrecen.

Please continue to pray:
  • God would continue His work in the lives of students in Debrecen. They would hunger for God and to be burdened for the lost around them. They would share the Gospel boldly with love and encourage each other daily.
  • Easter in Hungary is similar to that in the states where many people who don't normally come to church will come during this Easter celebration time. Pray that many will hear the Gospel and they would give their lives to Him.
  • Darrel as he meets with our dentist and neighbor, that he would encourage/challenge them to grow in their relationship with God.
  • G. a student from Israel, she would understand that Jesus is the Messiah and she can have a relationship with Him.
  • We would follow God day by day as He shows us the things that we are to do. Our hearts would be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and we would walk in obedience.
Thank you so much for your prayers!
